Roasting is a process consisting of partial degradation of fibers contained in the biomass, in order to render it rot-resistant and more easily grindable. It responds to the expectations of industrialists who are today looking for solutions enabling them to reduce their greenhouse gas (CO²) emissions and allied costs. The operation consists of a thermal treatment between 200°C and 300°C in the absence of oxygen, to evacuate the humidity and a part of the volatile components present in raw biomass.

Thanks to the polyvalent Multiple hearth furnace (MHF) technology from Nesa, this is possible!

The thermal treatment of biomass enables renewable energy to be produced: a ‘Bio-Coal’, that is to say a high quality solid fuel opening up new perspectives to renewable energies as a –  total or partial – substitute  for fossil coal burned in electric power plants. Depending on the specific characteristics of the biomass, we are able to offer you a turnkey system integrating a gas purification system with heat recuperation upstream of the MHF oven.
