Böhler Edelstahl, Austria orders a fully-automatic Wire Coil Pickling Line from CMI.

CMI is to supply a standalone, fully-automatic wire coil pickling line for the chemical descaling and treatment of wire rod and drawn wire to BÖHLER EDELSTAHL Kapfenberg, Austria, a fully owned subsidiary of voestalpine AG, and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high speed steel grades, tool steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys and special materials.

The new, state of the art wire coil pickling plant will not only assist Böhler in their efforts to produce materials for highly demanding applications, by fulfilling high quality standards in chemical pickling, it will also help to meet stringent environmental regulations for low emission concentrations of all waste streams, fume, air and water, coming from the production plant. Additionally, it will allow the customer to treat a wide range of wire coils ranging from 100-1500 kg, with a diameter of 0,6 -15 mm, with up to 3000 kg wire charge weight and an annual capacity of 10.000 t.

The line, aiming at a high level of operating efficiency and eco-friendliness, features the full spectrum of CMI’s long products process technologies, including a salt bath treatment line, a pickling section, a coating section, an acid purification unit, fume exhaust and cleaning facilities, a waste water treatment plant, acid-proof lining and auxiliary equipment, as well as the comprehensive range of services comprising planning, design, manufacture, assembly and commissioning.

The line is scheduled to be put into service in November 2016.
