Urban waste water

urban waste water plant

The treatment of waste urban water represents a not inconsiderable part of water treatment activities at global level. Economic growth, demographic evolution, intensification of urban areas… So many factors which contribute to growing consumption of water and, as a result, of residual water to be treated. In other words, a veritable environmental challenge for public bodied. A challenge which the teams of John Cockerill Environment are capable of taking up, thanks to suitable and adaptable solutions:

Raising

If there is not a sufficient gradient, we use raising posts to evacuate contaminated water, industrial water or rain water. Raising may be carried out using submersible surface or worm-screw pumps. In a collector or in a purification station, our John Cockerill Environment solutions enable raw state or screened water to be evacuated. Screening is a pre-treatment designed to remove solid matter of above a certain size (bottles, wood, nappies…).

Municipal purification stations

Before returning it to a natural environment or using it for irrigation, it is indispensable to treat water in order to reduce its pollutant levels. A treatment which is specially adapted to the composition of the water to be treated, reject regulations and the variability of the pollutant and hydraulic levels arriving in the station.

John Cockerill Environment has developed different processes suited to the specific needs of each client:

  • Classic activated sludge
  • SBR biological treatment (alternate cycle basins);
  • Bio-disks;
  • Membrane bio-reactor;
  • Physical-chemical treatment;
  • Sludge treatment;
  • De-odorization by biological, adsorption or chemical washing methods;
  • Anaerobic treatment.

Rain water

John Cockerill Environment designs equipment for the recuperation, storage and management of rainwater. During rainy periods, masses of additional water are rejected into the drainage network. This water is either mixed with used urban, water or collected separately.

In the two cases, it is necessary to construct storage and possibly treatment infrastructures, because this rainwater also contains its not inconsiderable levels of pollution (sand, materials in suspension, heavy metals etc.).

We offer various types of equipment and treatments (notably to combat materials in suspension MES) for the rinsing of basins, de-pollution and water pumping:

  • Rocking troughs;
  • Hydro-ejectors
  • Vacuum systems;
  • Physical-chemical treatment;
  • Strip decanters;
  • Vortex separators.
