Our Group’s headquarters in Belgium welcomed Amarendu Prakash, Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), and other senior representatives during a recent visit that marked a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the two organizations. This strategic engagement provided a platform to discuss the future of steelmaking and explore new avenues for collaboration.
During the visit, the delegation was impressed by John Cockerill’s remarkable 200-year legacy of engineering excellence. This long-standing heritage, combined with their ongoing commitment to innovation, has positioned John Cockerill as a key player in shaping the future of steel production. From pioneering new technologies to championing sustainability, John Cockerill continues to drive advancements that align with the evolving needs of the global steel industry.
A highlight of the visit was the tour of the Kessales facility, where the delegation was introduced to the innovative Jet Vapor Deposition (JVD) technology. This line build by John Cockerill and developed by ArcelorMittal at the Metallurgical Research Center (CRM Group) in Liège, JVD is a breakthrough in steel coating, now being commercialized globally. It offers precise zinc coating in a vacuum chamber, enhancing durability and efficiency, with a cumulative production of more than 1,000,000 tons at ArcelorMittal’s Kessales site. JVD stands at the forefront of cleaner and more efficient steel processing, emphasizing sustainability and the decarbonization of the industry.
