Dunamenti Erőmű Power Plant (Hungary): corner stone laying ceremony in the presence of CMI

June 26th 2009

Dunamenti, Hungary, June 4th, 2009

CMI Energy took part in the official corner stone laying ceremony symbolizing the start of the repowering project of the Dunamenti Erőmű power plant (Hungary) organized by the GDF Suez Group. CMI Energy will provide on this site a vertical boiler installed behind an Ansaldo gas turbine.

This corner stone laying ceremony symbolizes the start of the repowering project (Project “G3”) of the Dunamenti power plant.  The new CMI Heat Recovery Steam Generator to be installed shall contribute to increase effectiveness of the unit while allowing a reduction of the emissions.  CMI HRSGs indeed constitute a key equipment for effective power generation in combined cycle plants. With equivalent CO2 emission, a combined cycle plant can generate 50% more electricity than a conventional thermal power station.

In 1997 CMI Energy supplied a first vertical boiler on this site of Dunamenti and will install a second one by 2011. This new one shall be a vertical HRSG triple pressure + reheat installed behind an Ansaldo V94.3A gas turbine. The contract was signed in early 2009, the erection will begin in September 2009 and commissioning is foreseen in 2011.

The capacity of the unit will be raised from 215 MWe currently to over 400 MWe. Thanks to technologies chosen, the efficiency of the power plant will be improved by more than 20%, increasing from 36% to approximately 57%.
