CMI chairs the intellectual property task force of EUnited Metallurgy.

Since November 2013, CMI Group (Cockerill Maintenance & Ingénierie) has presided over the intellectual property task force of EUnited Metallurgy. The task force includes representatives of European engineering companies such as Achenbach Buschhütten, Miebach, Fives Stein, Redex, Ebner, Lechler, Andritz, Gustav Eirich, Siemens, SMS and Paul Wurtz. It is responsible for proposing to the EUnited Metallurgy General Assembly measures for addressing, at the European level, matters concerning patents, protection of intellectual property, trade barriers to European exports, etc.

EUnited, the European Engineering Industries Association, is the interface between companies and institutions within the European Union. EUnited is organized into five areas: cleanup, metallurgy, municipal equipment, robotics, and valves. Jean-Marc Kohlgruber, President of CMI Industry, served as its chair from 2010 through 2012. He is currently Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of EUnited Metallurgy and honorary member of the EUnited Board of Directors.
