10 new CMI HRSGs in Saudi Arabia

January 17th 2012

In late December, 2011, CMI Energy reported a new order for the design and supply of ten heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). These vertical configuration boilers will be installed behind Siemens SGT6-2000E turbines. They are part of the new generation of CMI vertical boilers tailored to combustion turbines capable of burning both gas and crude oil.

The contract was signed with the Korean EPC, Daelim. The final customer is the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The latter will build a combined cycle power plant with a total capacity of 1238 MW at a site in Shoaiba (Saudi Arabia). This investment is part of a comprehensive plan which will increase its production capacity to 30,000 MW of energy by 2018. SEC intends to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country.
