VAMA, China issues acceptance certificate to CMI for its high-quality Continuous Hot-Dip Galvanizing and Combi-Continuous Annealing – Galvanizing Line
February 26th 2016
On February 22nd, the Chinese steelmaker Valin ArcelorMittal Automotive Steel Co (VAMA), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Hunan Valin Group, has awarded the acceptance cerfificate to CMI for its high-quality Continuous Hot-Dip Galvanizing and Combi-Continuous Annealing – Galvanizing Line (Combi CAL-CGL) lines which recently achieved the set performance goals. Both lines are installed at VAMA’s new landmark steel plant in Loudi, Hunan Province, China.
While the Combi CAL-CGL line attains a maximum speed of 700m/min and will produce close to 900,000 tpy, the CGL line reaches a process speed of 200 m/min and is to produce 500,000 tons of steel strip. Both lines produce superior surface quality, for high-strength automotive structural components, which improve the safety of vehicles while reducing their weight, helping the customer to meet rapid growth in demand for advanced automotive steels in China.
In order to cater for this rapidly changing market segment, the current line layout already makes provision for future upgrades, such as the additional post treatment that CMI recently supplied. This chemical post treatment is another feature increasing the quality of a line already providing above-average strip quality product and production flexibility.
Both lines are featuring the full spectrum of the latest generation of process technologies, thus providing a high level of operating efficiency and eco-friendliness. The manufactured new advanced and ultra-high strength (AHSS/ UHSS) steel grades are destined to be supplied to major car manufacturers in China.
