Following the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding last February, several John Cockerill representatives travelled to Vietnam from 15 to 18 May to meet a number of officials, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Ministers of Planning and Investment, and of Industry & Trade. The aim of the visit? To endorse mutual commitments in order to accelerate the country’s energy transition and contribute to its innovation dynamic, but also to study the development of local value chains and explore new opportunities for sustainable investment.

As a fast-growing country, Viet Nam has renewed its interest in John Cockerill’s technological solutions, which are particularly well-suited to local needs in terms of access to green hydrogen, responsible industrial production and decarbonization of heavy industries: electrolyser design, thermal torrefaction treatment for biomass upgrading, high-efficiency heat recovery and cooling systems, modernization of energy equipment and development of innovation and training capabilities.

John Cockerill has formally confirmed to the authorities its intention to invest in these sectors in the country and establish a long-term presence, for example by creating a Business Unit to improve the energy efficiency of existing power and steam generation facilities.

Like its founder in the 19th century, John Cockerill is proud to forge solid partnerships and contribute to the establishment of local ecosystems capable of meeting the challenges of our time.
