Two New HRSGs will support Hungary’s energy transition towards lower CO₂ emissions
April 30th 2026
Tisza is the name of the combined cycle power plant where 2 new John Cockerill HRSGs (heat recovery steam generators) will be installed! Indeed our Energy team has been awarded a major contract by Ansaldo Energia for the Combined Cycle Power Plant of Tisza in Hungary.
Located along the Tisza River, the former 900 MW hydrocarbon-based power plant—now decommissioned—will be replaced by a new 1,000 MW high‑efficiency combined cycle facility. It will play a key role in strengthening Hungary’s energy independence and transition toward a more sustainable energy mix. Designed to be H₂‑ready, it will also support future decarbonization pathways.
Under this contract, our teams will design and supply two large horizontal HRSGs, to be installed downstream of two GT26 gas turbines supplied by Ansaldo Energia. Our scope also includes the transportation of these huge HRSGs to the site of Tisza.
This new award reflects the consistency of our engagement, combining strong technical expertise with a trusted and renewed relationship carefully built over many years between our Sales team and our client.
This achievement is the result of the commitment and collaboration of the entire team. It demonstrates the strength of our commercial strategy. This new contract further confirms Ansaldo Energia as a key partner for John Cockerill.
