John Cockerill at COP26: green hydrogen at the heart of decarbonisation solutions

November 01st 2021

Glasgow, UK, is hosting COP26 until 12 November. John Cockerill is honoured to participate in this international conference on climate change organized by the United Nations.  Three of our representatives will be speaking at the event on 8 and 9 November.

The exit from fossil fuels and the limitation of global warming are two issues of the COP26 that meet one of John Cockerill’s missions: facilitating access to decarbonized energy.

Green hydrogen as a solution for decarbonizing industry and transport

Three representatives of the Group are participating in COP26, including Roland Hequet who will be on site on 8 and 9 November. Our VP Strategy and Hydrogen Origination will first speak at the initiative of the Walloon region and the Moroccan government on the theme of green hydrogen as a source of development in the French-speaking world. Then, Alykhan Kassam (GM North Africa & VP Africa) will explain the role of John Cockerill in the development of the H2 industry in Morocco.

The next day, the BENELUX pavilion will also put green hydrogen in the spotlight with our CTO Jean Jouet in a short film that will present the Walloon strategy for the transition towards a low-carbon industry.

Finally, Roland Hequet will explain the HaYrport project.

John Cockerill is very pleased to participate in this international event which attests to the Group’s position as a major player in the energy transition.
