Major renovation project on Blast Furnace 1 of ArcelorMittal in the south of France

May 05th 2026

As part of its project to refurbish one of its blast furnaces, ArcelorMittal Fos-sur-Mer has entrusted us with significant work in the fields of assembly, mechanical engineering, metal fabrication, pipework and welding.

This major project, which is strategic for ArcelorMittal’s Fos-sur-Mer site, involves nearly 50 John Cockerill technicians on a daily basis, drawn from the new build, workshop and maintenance teams.

This synergy between our various departments ensures optimal coordination and enables us to meet the project’s technical requirements and our client’s deadline expectations effectively, thereby ensuring the blast furnace can be restarted in June.

It was therefore an opportunity for Guillaume Renzi, Southern Region Director, and Frédéric Thomère, Operations Manager, to welcome Nicolas Andrivon for a safety tour of the site to share with our teams and the client the various aspects of risk prevention associated with our work.

It was also an opportunity for discussion within a particularly complex industrial environment that is heavily regulated in terms of safety, where the commitment of our teams and their safety culture remain key factors for success.
