JSW Steel Coated Products partners with John Cockerill India to expand processing capacity at Khopoli with state-of-the-art Continuous Galvanising Line

JSW Steel Coated Products Ltd. (JSWSCPL) has awarded John Cockerill India Limited a landmark contract for the engineering, design, manufacture, and supply of a state-of-the-art high capacity 600,000 TPA Continuous Galvalume Line (CGL-3). The scope of work covers design, manufacture, and supervision of erection and commissioning, including training, with completion targeted in 2028.

The Continuous Galvanizing Line adds 600,000 TPA of capacity for high strength material.

• John Cockerill’s vertical non-oxidation furnace with L‑Top mathematical model developed in-house is an advanced furnace process model that predicts and optimizes thermal behaviour, strip temperature evolution, fuel consumption, and product quality.
• A Hot Water Generator (HWG) with furnace heat recovery is an energy‑efficient system designed to recover waste heat from furnace exhaust gases and convert it into useful hot water for plant processes or utilities.
• Dual ceramic zinc pot IGBT technology, delivering coatings of Galvanized (GI) 80–700 g/m² & Zinc‑Aluminium‑Magnesium (ZM) 70-600 g/m²
• John Cockerill’s Air‑Knife system with integrated Nitrogen (N₂) box is a high‑precision wiping solution designed specifically for advanced metallic coatings such as ZM (Zn‑Mg or Zn‑Al‑Mg). It ensures accurate coating weight control, excellent surface quality, and stable alloy chemistry, which are critical for ZM products.
• John Cockerill’s Skin Pass Mill and Tension Leveller are precision finishing equipment designed to deliver excellent flatness, surface quality, and mechanical property control for cold‑rolled, annealed, and coated steel strips
• John Cockerill’s Vertical Chemical Coater is an advanced strip surface‑treatment system designed to apply uniform chemical coatings under tightly controlled process conditions

Together, these lines mark an important step in JSWSCPL’s downstream integration, enhancing productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. With this expansion, JSWSCPL will further strengthen its leadership in coated products for the automotive, appliances, and construction markets, while John Cockerill India reinforces its position as a trusted partner delivering high-performance technologies for the steel industry.
