John Cockerill's 5MW pressurized alkaline electrolyser for green hydrogen production

May 11th 2026

John Cockerill, Rely, and Shell recently jointly worked to evaluate the safety, operability, and maintainability of John Cockerill’s advanced alkaline electrolyzer technology. Focus was on John Cockerill’s pressurized stack and mutualized gas separation unit, which are key components of Rely’s Clear100+ 100MW green hydrogen plant, designed for deployment across diverse markets.

Through this collaborative project, John Cockerill and Rely provided Shell with detailed insights into the operability of their standardized modules and the safety design philosophy aimed at preventing major hazards. Shell shared its key considerations for large-scale green hydrogen development, which would support alignment with industry-leading standards. This collaboration reinforces a shared commitment to delivering safe, scalable, and innovative energy solutions.
