Tempro Joint Venture China

November 18th 2019

With air traffic expected to double within the next 15 years and knowing that 40 % of new aircraft deliveries will be in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, Cockerill Tempro Surface Treatment Technologies, the newly created JV between the John Cockerill Group, headquartered in Belgium, and the Chinese Surface Treatment specialist Tempro, is to take advantage of the local aeronautic market growth.

The presence of HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium, Representative of his Majesty the King of the Belgians, as well as the representatives of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, in the framework of the Belgian economic mission to China this November, ensured the perfect setting for the officialization of this strategic partnership between the two companies.
John Cockerill is convinced that, based on the several decades of technological know-how and the over 1000 reference lines worldwide of its Surface Treatment Division’s European entities, Galvatek in Finland and CMI Sleti in France, the newly created Chinese JV is now best positioned to also supply automated surface treatment plants on a turnkey basis to the Chinese market. While the focus will be given to the Aviation and Aeronautics industry, including the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul) segment, other target industries are the Automotive, Luxury and Aluminium industries.
But the creation of the JV, Cockerill Tempro Surface Treatment Technologies, is also to give access to cost efficient sourcing and engineering, and to allow John Cockerill to offer « fit-to-purpose» surface treatment solutions to all of its worldwide clients. Facilities that are not only providing consistent product quality and increased performance, but also a significantly reduced environmental footprint when compared to conventional surface treatment installations.
More than ever, the company’s determining feature is its ability to supply customized and robust surface treatment plants that are once in a lifetime purchases.
