CMI Defence reveals modular turret simulation systems.

June 12th 2012

In addition to its famous Cockerill Weapon Systems range, CMI Defence now offers a new family of high-performance products: modular training and simulation systems. CMI Defence’s new solutions combine three configurations: static systems, embedded turret simulators and mobile simulation systems. Based on the intensive use of COTS solutions, they cost-effectively offer infinitely variable interactive scenarios and advanced post-action reviews and analysis. With this new extension of its portfolio, CMI Defence reinforces its role as a trusted and cost-effective provider of complete capability solutions to the World’s most mobile and effective Armed Forces.

Training operational units in the correct use of their equipment. Practicing intervention procedures. Preparation for, and conduct of, operations. Help with tactical decisionmaking. All of these are fundamental requirements for armed forces. CMI Defence, the world leader in flexible, high-power weapon systems for light and medium weight armoured vehicles, cost-effectively satisfies these requirements through new modular simulation devices for its weapon systems.

Based on the intensive use of COTS solutions, CMI Defence’s new training and simulation systems are high-performance tools that offer infinitely variable interactive scenarios and advanced post-action review and analysis. CMI Defence’s philosophies have been realized in a family of highly flexible and cost-effective tools that are readily adaptable to meet the individual needs of real-world Users. Thus CMI Defence offers a set of complementary PCbased and embedded simulation systems.

Thanks to the modular and open electronic architecture of CMI Defence’s turrets and weapon systems, its simulation systems can be easily plugged into all of them. For instance, at Eurosatory 2012, CMI Defence is showing its new training and simulation solutions applied to the Cockerill LCTS90 turret hardware.

To develop its new training and simulation systems – which cost-effectively address all aspects of military simulation – CMI Defence has worked with SILKAN, a Company whose core competencies lie in virtual, constructive and cutting-edge simulation. The developed solutions feature direct connection to real combat hardware, creating embedded simulators for training and mission rehearsal. These systems include high performance simulation engines, reconfigurable interactive instructor stations with built-in debrief capabilities, and innovative immersive displays coupled with high fidelity image generation.

A world premiere, the close cooperation between CMI Defence and SILKAN opens the way for a new generation of training simulators.
