Tree plantation drive at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority: a green initiative by John Cockerill India
November 10th 2024
John Cockerill India’s recent tree plantation drive is a success! This initiative saw employees from all our Indian entities come together to make a tangible impact on the environment and reaffirm our commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.
Taking place at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), the port that serves as our primary hub for shipping equipment to international customer sites. This tree planting event was more than a one-day effort – it’s part of our ongoing journey to contribute to India’s green targets and foster biodiversity in areas where we operate. Each tree represents a small step in supporting India’s environmental goals, creating a legacy that aligns with our ESG values of sustainable growth and community development. The JNPA plantation is particularly significant as it strengthens our commitment to sustainability at a location that plays a crucial role in our operations.
Our employees were deeply engaged, gaining hands-on experience in conservation, sustainable land management, and learning the vital role of trees in combating climate change. The team spirit was palpable as colleagues joined forces to make a difference, reflecting the “social” pillar of our ESG commitment by actively supporting the communities we call home.
A special thank you to our CSR partner, Green Yatra, whose collaboration made this impactful initiative possible.
Managing Director of John Cockerill India Limited Michael Kotas shared: “This tree plantation drive highlights our dedication to responsible business practices and sustainable growth. The enthusiasm and dedication of our team are a testament to our values and a reminder of the positive impact we can create together. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed their time and effort!”
At John Cockerill, we believe that ESG isn’t just a framework – it’s a way to hold ourselves accountable to our mission. This tree plantation is one of the many ways we are working to reduce our environmental footprint, contribute to social well-being, and drive positive change for generations to come.
