April 07th 2025

Welcomed by Jean-Noël Ott, Director of John Cockerill Brasil, Nicolas Andrivon, CEO of John Cockerill Services, recently visited two of our three Brazilian Business Units to meet customers, visit the sites where we operate and talk to the teams of the Minas Gerais BU specializing in steel and mining, strategically based in the Steel Valley in Ipatinga (Minas Gerais) and the “Oil & Gas” BU based in Macaé (Rio de Janeiro), Brazil’s energy capital.

Our CEO Services first discovered the huge integrated steelworks of the Usiminas plant in Ipatinga, whose production line extends from the blast furnaces to the galvanization lines, and was received by its Vice President Sr. Célio Alves. John Cockerill Brasil has been awarded several maintenance contracts by this major leader in the steel industry. On this site, our teams are involved, among other things, in the operation and maintenance of 3 acid regeneration units, in the maintenance of 120 km of railroad tracks and in the lubrication of all steel production tools.

He then went to the site of the Petrobras Gaslub refinery in Itaborai, where the teams presented the work they are currently doing. He also had the opportunity to discuss with the site management the future projects in which John Cockerill could bring its added value.

Finally, in Macaé, after a tour of the workshops and offices, the teams presented the significant growth potential of the Oil & Gas market to him. He was able to have a long discussion with Sr. Welberth Rezende, Mayor of Macaé, as well as Sr. Rodrigo Ferreira Vianna, first deputy in charge of economic development, and reaffirmed to them the Group’s desire to develop its activities in Macaé and create jobs.

Nicolas Andrivon concludes: “John Cockerill is continuing its strong development in Brazil, in the fields of steelmaking, oil & gas, chemicals and sustainable energy. Our 600 employees are the backbone of our growth, they have strong skills in all metal and mechanical trades. I was impressed by the warm welcome from the private and public economic fabric, in the service of a strong, exporting industry with high expectations of the international excellence that John Cockerill can offer.

Because our teams are made up of women and men who put their expertise at the service of more efficient equipment and a more sustainable industry.
