Resolest inaugurates a new industrial fume recycling unit in Rosières-aux-Salines (France)

September 22nd 2025
On June 12, 2025, Resolest—the joint venture between Solvay and Veolia— inaugurated a new facility for treating residual waste from municipal waste incineration (REFIOM) and residual soda products (PSR) at its site in Rosières-aux-Salines (Meurthe-et-Moselle).
Designed and built by John Cockerill with the support of Eiffage Construction Lorraine, this extension increases the site’s annual treatment capacity by 50%, from 45,000 to 65,000 tons of residues.
This new unit is fully in line with the circular economy approach. Industrial fumes are neutralized with sodium bicarbonate, generating residues from which Resolest extracts the soluble fraction. The salt recovered in this way is transformed into purified brine and transported by pipeline to the Solvay plant in Dombasle-sur-Meurthe, where it replaces virgin raw materials to produce sodium carbonate.
With this achievement, Resolest and its partners are taking a major step towards increasing the value of industrial waste and reducing the industry’s environmental footprint.
