John Cockerill strengthens its presence in China with the opening of a new office in Shanghai

On March 3, 2026, John Cockerill reached an important milestone with the opening of its new office in Shanghai, a step that further reinforces the Group’s long-term commitment to China and to one of the world’s most dynamic centers of industrial innovation.
Located in Huangpu District, the new office establishes a strategic platform at the heart of Shanghai’s industrial and technological ecosystem. From this location, John Cockerill will further deepen collaboration with customers, partners, and research institutions, connecting the Group’s global technological expertise with the capabilities and ambitions of the Chinese market.
This presence will support the deployment of advanced solutions for the metals industry, including technologies such as Volteron™ and Jet Vapor Deposition (JVD®), while accelerating progress in digitalization and the transition toward more sustainable and efficient production processes. Through these initiatives, John Cockerill aims to contribute to the development of higher value-added industrial solutions and to the global transition toward lower-carbon industry.
The inauguration was marked by a Customer Meet, bringing together customers, partners, and industry leaders for a forward-looking exchange on the future of the metals sector. Discussions focused on innovation, evolving market expectations, and the role that advanced technologies will play in shaping the next generation of industrial performance.
The event was led by Agnieszka Borysowicz, CEO of the Metals entity in China, together with Frederic Lemaitre, Chief Financial Officer of John Cockerill Group, and Francois-David Martino, CEO of John Cockerill Industry.
We were also honored by the presence of several distinguished guests, including His Excellency Mr. Pascal Buffin, Consul General of Belgium in Shanghai, and His Excellency Mr. Joan Valadou, Consul General of France in Shanghai, whose participation reflected the strength of international cooperation supporting industrial development. We were equally privileged to welcome Mrs. Qiu Wen, Director of the Commission of Commerce of Huangpu District, and representatives from the Commission representing Huangpu District, Shanghai.
