Creation of John Cockerill Industry Technologies to best serve the Chinese Metals Processing Industry
February 09th 2024
With the declared goal to most effectively adapt to the evolving Chinese market, the time has come for a change of direction that reflects not only the current market situation in China, but also the lessons learnt and the many successes of the past 20 years. John Cockerill has therefore decided to recenter its activities related to the metals processing industry under one roof and combine the activities of its former entities.
While the joint venture Cockerill Engineering Beijing largely contributed to John Cockerill’s business success in China, the newly created entity, John Cockerill Industry Technologies Ltd., is to progress on its path to the necessary renewal with the goal to address the Chinese steel industry’s slowing growth and its increasing need for innovative technologies aiming at decarbonizing this heavy industry, among the world’s biggest CO² emitters. The new entity, fully owned by John Cockerill, will make use of the experience and build on the substantial successes and accomplishments attaint over our two decades long history in China, all while offering John Cockerill’s latest metals processing technologies to help Chinese steelmakers address their carbon reduction goals.
Celebrate the 20th business anniversaries of John Cockerill in China
On November 28th, 2023, John Cockerill celebrated its 20th business anniversaries and the inauguration of its new offices in Langfang. For this memorable event, John Cockerill Industry Technologies invited its strategic suppliers to show appreciation to its business partners who are part of the Group’s success story. Many of them have been working with John Cockerill since 2003 on the many projects delivered to most of China’s important steelmakers, including Shougang Group, Masteel Group, VAMA, Shagang, Baosteel and many others.
“At a first glance, John Cockerill Industry Technologies in Langfang may look like a newborn child. I ensure you that it is not, as this new entity builds on a solid historical succession and legacy based on our employees’ skills and experience, the lessons learnt, our partnerships and our projects successfully accomplished over the past 20 years. Our target is to pursue this rich heritage and add new chapters to John Cockerill’s long history in the Chinese metals industry with the declared goal to make it even more successful, more agile, and more solid.” said Agnieszka Borysowicz, Company Manager of both of John Cockerill Industry’s Chinese entities, John Cockerill Industry Technologies Co. Ltd. (JCIT) and John Cockerill Tempro Surface Treatment Technologies (JCT).
Continue our Chinese success story with new offices in Langfang
“Just like the country itself, our Chinese entities have proven many times their capability to adapt and to overcome any type of challenge. The relationship with our suppliers has largely contributed to our company’s business success in China over the past two decades. Reason why it was important for us to celebrate the beginning of this new era together with them. Celebrating 20 years of memories and standing together, but also preparing for the great future of John Cockerill Industry Technologies.” commented Michael Kotas, Head of John Cockerill Industry Metals Asia and Managing Director of John Cockerill India Limited.
Fred Martin, Head of the John Cockerill Metals Business Line, shared his best wishes on the day of the new entity’s opening ceremony, “Today, we are turning a page to write a new one and continue our Chinese success story in Langfang. Knowing that the Chinese steel output will no longer grow, with the creation of John Cockerill Industry Technologies we wanted to mark the turn. John Cockerill Metals is fully convinced that the newly created entity is perfectly armed to accompany the significant transformation needed to help China make notable progress in its clean energy transition.”
