CMI strengthens its railways business by buying from the SNCB 82% of Transurb, a supplier of rail solution

On June 30^th 2017, the CMI Group acquired 82% of Belgian company Transurb, a subsidiary of the SNCB and the STIB. A designer of made to measure solutions for the rail and urban public transport sector, Transurb is located in Brussels and Namur and has a turnover of the order of 13.5 million Euros. Integrating this company enables CMI to strengthen the range of services of its railways business activity.

A designer of made to measure rail solutions, Transurb has the benefit of 40 years experience and know-how in the rail and urban public transport sector. Its activities are grouped around three domains of activity. Transurb Simulation designs and markets tools dedicated to training, Transurb Technirail assists clients in putting into operation  solutions for rail and urban transport via its study bureau, and Transurb ARCS provides management and advice for rail projects. Through this acquisition, CMI becomes the largest shareholder in Transurb.

Franck Pasqualini, President of CMI Services, the branch of CMI into which Transurb will be integrated: “This operation enables us to reinforce our range of products and services within the railways business, which came into being in 1835 with the  construction of the first locomotive to be built in Western Europe. With a current order book of over 100 million Euros, CMI is a major player in rail equipment, services and maintenance, particularly in Europe and Africa.
