Strengthening our position in the supply of Air-Cooled Condensers for Waste-to-Energy plants worldwide

March 25th 2026

Waste-to-Energy projects are accelerating worldwide as part of circular economy and energy transition strategies. And the choice of a cooling technology becomes increasingly strategic in these facilities.

At John Cockerill, we continue to strengthen our position in the supply of Air-Cooled Condensers for Waste-to-Energy plants worldwide. Over the past years, we have successfully delivered a wide portfolio of Waste-to-Energy projects across Europe, including France, Switzerland, Poland, Portugal and the United Kingdom, but also in the Middle East and Australia. These facilities, equipped with our Hamon® air-cooled condensers, represent a combined installed power generation capacity of more than 500 MW.

Our references span a broad spectrum of Waste-to-Energy applications, ranging from municipal solid waste treatment to advanced thermal processing and energy recovery facilities. These projects play a key role in diverting non-recyclable waste from landfill, while producing reliable electricity and, in many cases, supporting district heating and combined heat and power networks.

In this context, Air-Cooled Condensers play a critical role in plant performance. As a dry cooling solution, ACCs eliminate process water consumption for steam condensation, significantly reducing environmental impact compared to wet cooling systems. This is particularly strategic in regions facing water scarcity, strict discharge regulations or ambitious sustainability targets.

At John Cockerill, we combine decades of thermal engineering expertise with continuous innovation in design, performance optimization and operational reliability. Our Hamon® ACC solutions are engineered to meet the specific requirements of each project, delivering durability, efficiency and long-term asset value, directly contributing to plant availability and lifecycle performance.

As Waste-to-Energy continues to be a key contributor to circular economy and energy transition strategies, we are proud to support this sector with robust and high-performance cooling equipment.
